Fish Cutlet Recipe

Fish Cutlet Recipe: Fish cutlets is a value added products can be made using a variety of fish, depending on personal preference and availability.

The common fish species that are often used to make fish cutlets like Carps, Cod, Tilapia, Salmon, Haddock, Pollock, Mackerel and there are many other fish species that can be used to make fish cutlets. The choice of fish can vary based on regional preferences, availability, and personal taste.

Fish cutlets are flavorful and crispy patties made from cooked fish and various other ingredients. They are a popular and versatile dish enjoyed as a snack, appetizer, or part of a meal. Fish cutlets are loved for their delicious taste, ease of preparation, and ability to showcase the natural flavors of the fish. Fish cutlets offer a delicious way to incorporate fish into your diet while indulging in a crispy and flavorful culinary experience.

Fish cutlet recipe are a popular value-added fish product made by combining cooked fish with various ingredients to create a flavorful and crispy patty. The basic requirements for preparation of fish cutlet recipe as follows:

Ingredients for Fish Cutlet Recipe:

  • 500 grams of boneless fish fillets (such as cod, tilapia, or salmon)
  • 1 medium-sized potato, boiled and mashed
  • 1 small onion, finely chopped
  • 2 cloves of garlic, minced
  • 1 green chili, finely chopped (optional, adjust to taste)
  • 1 teaspoon ginger paste
  • 1 teaspoon red chili powder (adjust to taste)
  • 1 teaspoon turmeric powder
  • 1 teaspoon garam masala (or any preferred spice blend)
  • 2 tablespoons chopped coriander leaves
  • Salt to taste
  • 2 eggs, beaten
  • Breadcrumbs, for coating
  • Vegetable oil, for frying

Preparation Methods for Fish Cutlet Recipe:

  1. Boil the fish fillets until they are cooked and easily flake with a fork. Drain any excess water and let the fish cool.
  2. In a mixing bowl, mash the boiled fish using a fork or your hands until it reaches a flaky consistency.
  3. Add the mashed potato, chopped onion, minced garlic, green chili (if using), ginger paste, red chili powder, turmeric powder, garam masala, chopped coriander leaves, and salt to the bowl. Mix well to combine all the ingredients.
  4. Take a small portion of the mixture and shape it into a round or oval cutlet patty. Repeat with the remaining mixture to make more cutlets.
  5. Dip each cutlet into the beaten eggs, ensuring it is coated on all sides.
  6. Roll the cutlet in breadcrumbs, pressing gently to ensure an even coating.
  7. Heat vegetable oil in a frying pan over medium heat. Once the oil is hot, carefully place the cutlets in the pan, ensuring not to overcrowd.
  8. Fry the cutlets until they turn golden brown and crispy on both sides, flipping them gently as needed. This usually takes around 3-4 minutes per side.
  9. Once cooked, remove the cutlets from the pan and place them on a paper towel-lined plate to absorb any excess oil.
  10. Serve the fish cutlets hot with ketchup, chutney, or a dipping sauce of your choice.

Fish cutlet recipe can be enjoyed as a snack, appetizer, or as part of a meal. They are versatile and can be customized by adding additional spices, herbs, or vegetables according to personal taste preferences.
